Accessing sales data other buyers can’t
Buyers searching for property without the services of a buyer’s agent have to rely on the property data made available to them via property portals such as realestate.com.au and Domain.
However, this data is captured by real estate agents reporting their recent sales to the portals, and doesn’t provide a complete picture of the local market. In big cities like Sydney, this data is reasonably accurate, but in smaller regions, such as Lake Macquarie, the Central Coast, Cessnock, Port Stephens, Newcastle and other parts of the Hunter region, where there are fewer sales and days on the market are generally longer, this information isn’t as accurate.
